Use an Auction Template

A professional-looking auction can do wonders for your final selling price. If you take yourself seriously, buyers will too. If you're not computer savvy enough to create your own template, consider paying someone to create one for you. Not only will it get more buyers interested in what you have to sell, but it will also save you time. Whenever you have a new listing, just change the image URL and write a new description.

List Similar Products

Buyers will usually check your other auctions, so make sure to list similar products at the same time. So, if you have a necklace that looks great with the shirt you're listing, list them. This encourages buyers to bid on both auctions because they'll get a deal on combined shipping. Plus, you save time (fewer boxes to pack up) and money (fewer shipping materials needed).

Anticipate questions

The more information you provide in your description, the less time you'll spend answering emails from potential bidders. So, if you're listing a necklace, include its length measurement. Potential bidders may simply turn to another seller because they don't have the time or patience to email you, if you do not provide enough information.

It is easy to overlook basic information if you know your product really well. There is an assumption that bidders will understand what you mean, and vital information gets left out.

To overcome this :

List all the items of information a potential buyer will need in order to make a decision. Size, colour, new or used, composition, etc etc. Have a look at a few ads, go into the stores and see what extra information they have included on their site. When you are happy with this basic list, use it for every ad you write.

You could also have an interested friend go over your ad, and pretend thay are a buyer.
The trick with this is to look at your ad from the buyer’s point of view, and give them what they need. This will cut down on the questions you get, and help you make money selling on eBay.

Pictures Speak 1000 Words

I've said it before, however I'm repeating this because I see so many ads without pictures on eBay, and so many that have terrible pictures. This does not help you make money selling on eBay.

As a buyer, unless you knew exactly what you wanted, would you buy from an ad where the picture was indistinct? No.
We’ve all seen them - fuzzy, indecipherable pictures on eBay. You must take clear, close-up pictures! A great picture really is worth a thousand words and offering pictures taken from several different angles will help you get higher bids.

Turn eBay Buyers into Long Term Customers

Once someone's bought something from you on eBay, you suddenly have all sorts of details on them.

If someone's bought from you once before, then the chances are that at some point in the future they'll want to buy a similar item, and you can take advantage of this to market to them directly.

This will only be successful if your original customer service and product were superior, and will be even more successful if you over-delivered to them, by adding a bonus of some sort.
