Use Excellent Key Words in Titles

Since there are so many items on eBay, one of the most effective ways people find things is to use the search engine...

If you want people to find your item, then place key words, and other carefully selected words in your titles.

For example, if you’re selling a collectible model car, don’t just put the word CAR in your title, put the make and model, too.

Put as many keywords possible in the title, so the greatest number of searches will locate it someone could think of who are looking for items like yours.

Use Bold Text in Your Titles

Another very powerful way to get your items noticed is to select the
bold title option when setting up your item’s auction.

Use of this option must be specifically selected and eBay will charge you an extra $2.00 for using bold, but your item will stand out.

Use this for items over $10.00 or it’s not really worth it.

Now, to really make your items stand out, use asterisks, use uppercase letters, AND a bold title.

Use Asterisks in Your Item Titles

There are a lot of items up for auction on eBay, and it’s easy for your
item to get lost in the thousands of others.

Use asterisks in the title. Here’s an example:

***** RARE_COIN_COLLECTION! *****

Catchy isn't it? It flags your prospects down doesn't it? This is so simple to do and yet so powerful.

Passion and Research

You'll have a lot more success selling on Ebay if you are interested, even passionate!, about the product line you want to sell. Because you'll find the energy and time to devote to it. If your only interest is to make money selling stuff on Ebay, no matter the product, then your initial enthusiasm may wear off.

Doesn't matter what niche (specialty) you choose, the next step is to research it.
  • Find the products, then check out their prices in the retail stores.
  • Have a look at past auctions in Ebay, see what these products sold for.
  • Check out current Ebay auctions.
  • Surf the internet to find out what you can. Ad sites, Trading Post, info sites etc.
  • See if you can find some group or club out there also passionate about this niche - they probably have a forum or message board on the net. Browse the posts, see what they are excited about.

So now you have some idea of the marketplace, current demand and prices. This is a very good grounding. The more research you do, the more familiar you'll be with your chosen niche and products.

Use the Ebay Message Boards

The Ebay bulletin boards and message boards are a great way to do market research when deciding what and how to sell stuff on Ebay.

You can pick up a lot of tips and tricks to help you. Unlike a lot of message boards out there, that contain some postings that are a lot of rubbish (not all of course :-), the Ebay boards are full of wonderful information by people who care about your success, and are actually wanting to help you. And that's a nice thing on the internet.

They're not setting out to mislead you or spouting off or junk like that. Give them a try!

Selling on Ebay Is The Lazy Way To Get Traffic

If you were to sell your products on your own website, you'd need to search engine optimize the site and do lots of marketing to get ranked highly in the search engines and increase your traffic.

Ask anyone with a website - this is very time-consuming, and can take a long time.

Not so with Ebay - with 2 million visitors each day to Ebay's sites, the traffic is already there.

So sell stuff on Ebay - it makes sense. The most traffic for the least effort!

Increase Your Sales With An 'About Me" Page

If you don't have an eBay "About Me" page set-up you definitely should.

An eBay "About Me" page on eBay is a great way to tell buyers a little bit about yourself and your business, as well as promote your auctions. An About Me page is also a good spot to put your contact information such as your email address, phone number, and external web site address (if you have one).

It's always a good idea to post a picture of yourself and/or a picture of your office (even if its your bedroom!) to let people know you are a real person, selling quality products and you can be trusted. Using your picture breaks down resistance and helps people remember you.

It will increase your sales in the longrun.
